Tailor Shops

Starting from October 10, 2021 at 6 am:

Entering is limited to fully vaccinated individuals according to the health status in Tawakkalna application (immune ), with the exception of the group who are not obligated to take the vaccine as appears in the Tawakkalna application.

Epidemiological Surveillance

  • With the continuous screening and isolation procedures that occur according to the approved protocols, (Tawakkalna) application is used to ensure the employee’s health status concerning COVID-19 disease. If the employee’s status is positive or in contact with a positive case, all this will appear at the application, will not be allowed to enter the workplace.
  • The employee can return to work after he completely recovers and checking that by updating his status in the Tawakkalna application.
  • Take the temperature for customers and workers before entering the shop with a device approved by the Food and Drug Authority and ask them about respiratory symptoms (cough or shortness of breath).
  • Train staff at the inspection points on the method of examination and the use of a temperature measuring device.
  • Prevent customers who have a high temperature or respiratory symptoms from entering the shop.
  • Customer data (name and mobile number) must be saved in a special record for a period of no less than two weeks, to facilitate reference in the epidemiological investigation process.
  • Report a case that has a high temperature or respiratory symptoms (cough or shortness of breath) and is suspected of being infected with the COVID-19. Register the case’s data and contact numbers, and immediately call 937 to obtain directions required to transfer the case to the hospital.
  • If a confirmed case is registered among the workers, the following must be done:
    • Contact the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the same region or call 937 to report a confirmed case at the workplace.
    • Ensure that there is no source of infection by examining and isolating other workers.
    • Disinfect the workplace of the confirmed case.
  • Cooperate with the Ministry of Health in the process of monitoring cases who came in contact with the confirmed case. Apply on them the epidemiological investigation and quarantine procedures followed by the public health team.
  • If there is a housing for workers, prepare an isolation room at their residence for suspected cases until the competent authorities can communicate with the case. (Please refer to the health requirements guide for workers’ accommodations to combat COVID-19).
  • Communication channels should be established for reporting Breach of requirements and violations, and work on avoiding them.

Awareness and Education

  • Rely on official sources to obtain information on COVID-19 (official sources include the Ministry of Health and the Saudi Center for Disease Prevention and Control).
  • Distribute awareness posters at all entrances to tailor shops and visible places. They should include the following:
    • Methods of disease transmission and prevention.
    • Raise awareness of washing hands and avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth before washing hands, and urge attention to personal and health care.
    • Follow the etiquette of sneezing and coughing (use a tissue and dispose it as soon as possible, use the elbow by bending the arm).
    • Put up a panel that includes a statement of the acts violating health requirements and the method of reporting them.
  • Urge people at high risk of infection, such as the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases, to avoid going to tailor shops.
  • Educate customers on the importance of washing clothes after receiving them from the tailor.


  • Follow the guidance and requirements for protecting the groups at high risk of infection with COVID-19.
  • Customers and employees are required to wear fabric masks inside the tailor shop.
  • Emphasis on adherence to the precautionary instructions and instructions located inside the venue (the number of customers allowed in the store, and the specified distance between customers).
  • Minimize personal contact with customers and wear a mask when dealing with a customer.
  • Children under 7 years old are not allowed in.
  • When taking the measurement, the tailor should avoid touching the customer’s body as much as possible and disinfect the hands before and after taking the measurement.
  • In regard to women’s tailor shops located in beauty salons, the rotation of female workers between the tailor and beauty shop must be prohibited. Separate each section’s employees. Waiting areas between the two services (tailor shop and beauty shop) must be separated as well.
  • Prohibit any employee with flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, and sore throat) from working. The employee must be isolated until she/he is examined for COVID-19 and is completely cured and free of symptoms according to the report of the treating doctor.
  • Employees should follow instructions regarding when, what, and how to wear safety and personal protection equipment and the ideal way to remove them.
  • Trying on clothes in the tailor shop is prohibited.
  • Emphasize taking care of washing hands with soap and water frequently for at least 40 seconds each time or sterilizing them with an approved sterilizer for a period of no less than 20 seconds in the absence of soap and water.
  • Provide employees and customers with safety and protection tools, which include gloves and masks. Also, they must be provided at the entrance.

Instructions and Requirements Related to The Target Facility Environment

  • Hand sanitizers should be distributed and placed at visible locations such as the store entrance, accounting area, restroom, and sitting area.
  • Ensure that hand soap and disinfectants are available in the toilets. Ensure that the disinfectant contains 80-60% of alcohol and in compliance with the requirements of the Food and Drug Authority.
  • It is necessary to disinfect surfaces on a daily basis with disinfectants approved by the Food and Drug Authority (sodium hypochlorite), and follow the instructions shown on the packages, with a focus on places where there is a high possibility of contact, such as door handles, tables, seat supports, elevator switches, etc.
  • Dirt should be removed with soap and water before disinfection.
  • Ensure that toilets are constantly disinfected with approved disinfectants.
  • Follow the detailed instructions in “The practical guide to cleaning and disinfection for public facilities to combat COVID-19 ” issued by the Saudi Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
  • Ensure good ventilation in all places, especially gathering places.
  • Regularly change or clean the air filters for ventilation devices, especially air conditioners.
  • A schedule of disinfection times for surfaces and toilets should be kept.
  • There should be a distance of one and a half meters during the payment process between the customer and the tailor.
  • Sterilize tools that may be shared by different tailors, such as pens, meters, sizes, sewing machines, etc.
  • Provide no-touch waste bins, and the waste must be disposed of continuously.
  • Dispose of the delivery bags after receiving the clothes and ensuring that the hands are sanitized afterward.
  • Set different picking-up times to prevent customers crowding.
  • Close fitting rooms inside the store.
  • Children (less than seven years old) are not allowed to enter. Their measurements must be taken at home or bring one of their clothes to be measured.
  • It is preferable to bring clothes from home for measurements to avoid dealing with tailors, especially for the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases.
